Problem: |
The 6' x 4' island
impeded traffic flow and prevented the refrigerator door from opening fully. |
|
Solution: |
The island was
reduced in size to 5' x 3'.
|
|
Problem: |
There was
only 6" of countertop between the sink and the range. |
|
Solution: |
By adding
a rotary corner base unit (lazy Susan) between the sink and the
new cooktop, the client now has 24" of countertop in that
crucial area.
|
|
Problem: |
The
standard height base cabinetry (36") was too short for the
tall client. |
|
Solution: |
Standard
height base units were raised 1 1/2" and a platform was
built for the dishwasher. these were very cost effective
solutions.
|
|
Problem: |
The
windows were too high to provide a good view of the well
landscaped back yard |
|
Solution: |
New
windows were installed 18" off the floor to provide a much
better view..
|
|
Problem: |
The
skylight well valance provided very poor lighting. |
|
Solution: |
The
skylight well was opened completely and recessed can lighting
was added in that space as well as in the ceiling.
|
|
Problem: |
There was
lots of wasted space in the laundry closet. |
|
Solution: |
The
laundry closet was eliminated. That space was converted to an
area for a wall oven, wine chiller and pantry which now contains
a stacked washer/dryer unit.
